Backstory overview

— Grew up in a relative normal household. Father taught her how to hunt as she was an only child in her household. They hunted with guns, bows, crossbows, even spears at some point.
— Wanted to move on to better pastures when she became old enough. Took a bow and a spear with her to go out on her own.
— Began to take up random odd jobs in towns to make ends meet. She didn't have a home at the time, living under the stars in makeshift tents.
— Came across a small Saurolisk that was injured. She needed to eat but she didn't want to kill the injured animal. She decided to tend to his wounds, going a night without food. With time she found out that the Saurolisk acted much like a dog. She befriended him and named him Beanie.
— Maya and Beanie would go on to hunt, perform odd jobs, and coexist with each other.
— Maya came across a camp of Satyr's. Ready for a fight, she realized that they weren't looking to battle. Sitting down with them, she learned to enjoy herself. Reveling in live music, good food, and fun times, she befriended these Satyri.
— The Satyr introduced Maya to Demonsteel, a magical steel who's properties allowed it to mold to the users desire with ease. After setting, through a quickly casted spell, the steel hardened. This allowed Maya to create any weapon she desired with little effort. The metal was very scarce as it had to be blessed by a Satyri Arcanist, which were few and far between to begin with.
— Maya ended up leaving the Satyr camp after a few weeks. Venturing back out onto the open trails, looking for more work.
— Over time, Maya found herself becoming more cynical. Each town she came across people seemed to only be interested in her for what she could offer. She wanted friends, people who were genuinely interested in her for who she was.
— Maya found that the work she was doing was underappreciated. The typical jobs she was taking were granting double the payout to other less qualified people. She found that they would rather pay the towns people more money than her even though she could complete the job in half the time. This irritated her.
— Maya, feeling lonely and unappreciated, decided to take matters into her own hands. She began to start stealing from towns, robbing from people, and hurting anyone who got in-between her and what she wanted. She knew this wasn't right but no one else wanted to play fair.
— One night she needed supplies and hear a large cart go by deep in the woods. She quickly discovered it was a slave cart, with a driver and a guard as passenger. Maya decided to attack as this was an easy target. Withdrawing her bow, she put an arrow through the chest of the driver, knocking him under the cart. Her and Beanie slew the guard with ease. The slaves were riled up, wanting to be freed. She couldn't stay long as all the commotion would draw attention. She took what supplies she could get and freed the slaves from the back of the cart.
— As all the slaves dispersed in random directions, one decided to stick around and follow Maya. Maya wasn't too sold on the idea of company following her around. For all she knew this freed slave would only want to befriend her for what she had to offer.
— Maya learned the slaves name was Viktor. Sitting at a campfire in a makeshift camp, she shared a meal with him. The two exchanged stories back and forth of their lives.
— Overtime, Viktor would help Maya on numerous jobs. He even taught her many valuable skills on fighting people. In return, Maya promised to keep the slave owners away from Viktor as they were tracking him down. She learned that he was a valuable fighter for their entertainment.
— Maya helped bring Viktor back to the Satyr camp she originally discovered, only to find it burnt to the ground. Maya needed to get Viktor Demonsteel so he could make himself a weapon.
— Maya and Viktor searched high and low for another Satyr camp but they couldn't find one. At the time, Maya made the decision to convert her Demonsteel weapon back into its original state. She broke off half of the soft clay like metal and gave some to Viktor. She taught him the spell to solidify it. She watched as he chose to meticulously meld his Demonsteel into a set of chains.
— She learned of Viktor's atrophy and wanted to help. They went on to raid many businesses looking for answers. They only found temporarily solutions in the form of strength potions.
— Came across a demonic healer who bound Viktor's soul to a warstone. Choosing to call him at any given notice to do the demons bidding.
— Maya saw how drained Viktor was after returning from the demonic bidding. He was constantly put to battle against beings from greater worlds. She listened to Viktor's stories and painted a map in her head to find the demonic healer.
— Once they knew where the healer was, Maya hired a mage to teleport them to the healer. they slayed him, retrieving Viktor's warstone. They were afraid to break it as it may kill Viktor, so Maya decided to keep it in her possession. The warstone burned Viktor's hands if he tries to grab it.
